Over the past 20 years, new faces have become familiar faces, trainings have opened the door to team-work, and at the end of every collaboration has emerged a long-standing relationship. You will find here a list of clients I have had the priviledge of guiding, as well as their reflections on our work together.
Beth is a visionary in leading systems change. She provided Stillwater Area Public Schools with insight and information about a training model that fit with the goals of education, helping our school district follow a clearly defined path the past five years.Beth’s process of approaching professional development allows teachers to achieve extraordinary goals, while always ensuring that they are provided with a safe and nurturing learning environment. She leads from the trenches, exposing teachers to both traditional and nontraditional approaches to self-discovery. Most importantly, her purposeful approach to structuring her work has allowed teachers to apply the lessons they learn to their work with students and families, and to their daily lives.

The work that Beth as done with Family Social Science falls directly in-line with our strategic goals on multiculturalism. FSoS is committed to a culturally diverse environment and we want our in-coming graduate students to see this commitment as a community by our investment in their own personal goal setting. I would recommend Beth absolutely. She has given us one more tool in preparing our graduate students for their work in a global society.
The presentation [...] sparked conversation and deep thinking, even after the trainings ended
I was hesitant to think that training sessions would actually make me more culturally competent - I was worried it would be a waste of my time. But the information was rich, and I feel that I better understand what cultural competency is and how to get better at it. The presentation was very well done in that it sparked conversation and deep thinking, even after the trainings ended.
Beth’s thinking around movement waves, collective identity development and framing is on the cutting edge of movement building and organizational development work
Beth’s thinking around movement waves, collective identity development and framing is on the cutting edge of movement building and organizational development work. Beth’s work highlights the fact that building social movement organizations is not static and it evolves as the movement, and particularly the movement moment, evolves. Beth’s approach to this work is unique and it resonates big time with social movement organizations who are often inundated with cookie cutter capacity building services that are not tailor made to their organizations, the issues they organize around or the political context in which they are working.
Beth has helped us develop tools for supporting grantees to be part of a social justice movement. In particular, the tools help individuals and organizations to understand what it means to be part of a movement and to envision ways to come together more deeply. She has worked with us on many levels and her work has made a tremendous difference for us as a foundation. She has helped us to inspire and engage the groups we support in ways we never could have anticipated.

I think it is safe to say that Beth deeply impacted my work and vision
I think it is safe to say that Beth deeply impacted my work and vision and those who attended the meetings she facilitated-- particularly the Welcoming Church Program Leaders. Her analysis of social movement history and the "Movement Moment" in which we find ourselves were deeply impactful. I would highly recommend Beth as a gifted facilitator and movement thinker.
Beth’s personal experience, along with exceptional research on our organization combined with the intensive interviews, prepared her fully as a consultant for our organization. I believe this extensive preparation fostered a highly productive retreat and a strategic plan that will serve to advance our mission. The new mission statement and vision statement mark a new moment of change for our organization with commitment to the broader justice efforts. We truly lived into Beth’s training to “build organizations that build the movement”. A Jewish, Lesbian, humorous, long-time gay activist, strategic planner was exactly what a Christian, United Methodist, LGBT justice organization needed to plan fully for the future!
Beth’s work with us has profoundly affected our understanding of our work and our vision for our relationships with each other and the communities and companies we serve. Staff have really evolved in their understanding of culture and the ways in which we can work differently to create an inclusive, adaptive, and effective workplace. Staff evaluations of Beth's trainings demonstrated an immediate impact - participants reported utilizing the skills that they learned within 2 weeks of our first training! This is a remarkable outcome, and exceeded our expectations. Beth's individual consultations with staff and management have also helped us navigate some complex situations. Her skill as a facilitator, keen observer, and expert in this area has been invaluable. I have noticed her impact outside of our trainings. I hear people discussing culture differently, using references from her trainings related to communication styles, power, and intent vs. impact, and we now have specific goals related to developing shared meaning! I would absolutely recommend her work to others!
Rather than just bringing in training that is fun or insightful for a day, Beth is very good at helping an organization grow and develop
I have worked with Beth on several projects with more than one organization. I particularly value her insights and her clear and always present values. She led training that some staff reported to me was the best training they had ever had. Other staff indicated that they used things they learned from her training every day on the job. Rather than just bringing in training that is fun or insightful for a day, Beth is very good at helping an organization grow and develop. She focuses on helping individuals gain the skills they need and on improving team dynamics and helping organizations grow.
